Adiff gel 1% is a topical treatment for treating acne in people twelve and older. It reduces the appearance of whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples that develop on the face, chest, or back. Adiff gel contains the active component Adapalene, a retinoid that regulates skin cell turnover. It causes a significant reduction in skin inflammation, preventing clogging of skin pores, and supports skin renewal, ultimately addressing the root cause of acne. Adapalene not only promotes acne reduction but also promotes smoother and clearer skin.

Precautions (Things to remember, allergies, and warnings)

Adiff gel should be discontinued if hypersensitivity to Adapalene or other ingredients is observed. Patients with sunburn should be advised not to use this topical therapy until complete recovery occurs.

Minimize exposure to sunlight, including tanning booths and sunlamps, and those with a history of sun sensitivity should exercise caution. Wearing sunscreen and protective clothing over Adapalene-treated skin is essential. Cold winds may also be irritating for patients using this gel preparation. Visible improvement in the appearance of skin may be reported within 4 to 8 weeks of regular usage. For best results, continue using it as prescribed.

Side effects of Adiff gel 1%

Patients may experience side effects such as dryness, scaling, erythema, and burning. Burning sensation or pruritus may occur immediately after application. Other adverse effects reported in clinical trials include stinging, sunburn, erythema, skin irritation, and acne flares. These side effects most commonly appear during the first month of Adiff application and decrease in frequency and severity thereafter. It is important to note that all side effects are reversible upon treatment discontinuation.

How to use it? (infographics and instructions)

Apply Adapalene gel once daily to affected areas. Make sure you apply the product to clean and dry skin. A pea-sized amount covers the affected areas. Ensure the gel application shouldn’t get into the eyes, nose, mouth, and mucous membranes. Avoid applying the gel in large amounts or for longer than recommended, as it does not give rapid results but increases the risk of unwanted effects such as redness, irritation, or scaling.

During the initial weeks of treatment, acne may worsen, but don’t panic. This may be due to the action of the topical product on previously unseen lesions and should not be considered a reason for stopping the medication. Do not apply the product on cuts, eczema-affected skin, sunburned skin, wounds, or dry or irritated skin. Adapalene gel is considered safe for long-term usage when used under the dermatologist’s supervision.
