Dronis-P 4 mg is a medicine for conception control in adolescent and adult females who are sexually active in their lives. It is a progestogen-only tablet for females of childbearing potential in which other contraceptive methods, including long-acting reversible strategies, are contraindicated or not suited. Dronis-P contains the active ingredient Drospirenone, which suppresses ovulation, with additional contraceptive effects on cervical mucous and endometrium (mucus membrane lining the uterus).
Precaution with Drospirenone tablet
Don't take a Drospirenone tablet unless instructed by your healthcare professional.
Dronis-P 4 mg may not be effective in preventing pregnancy in the following situations:
– Kidney disorder
– Miss tablets
– Liver tumors or liver disease
– Problems with the Adrenal gland
– Undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding
– Presence or history of cervical cancer or progestin-sensitive cancer
– Have stomach issues
– Taking certain medicines
If you have the above issues, you may be recommended a different method of birth control. Before you take Dronis-P, let your doctor know about all your medical conditions if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, have ever developed blood clots in your lungs or legs, have a heart attack, or have had depression.
Certain medications can affect the mode of action of other medicines, and these medicines may affect how well Drosperinone works. You should not take this oral contraceptive if you have liver, kidney, or adrenal disorder because this could contribute to serious heart problems. The use of other medicines may also increase the levels of potassium in the blood. If you have been using certain medications for long-term treatment of a chronic health disease, ask your doctor to know whether you can use this medicine.
A small amount of Dronis-P will pass into the human milk. However, no adverse effects on the baby are expected. In general, oral contraceptives containing only progestin used by breastfeeding mothers did not change milk production or the growth of the baby. Let your doctor decide about the dosage and medicine in such cases.
Certain medications and ayurvedic medicines may interact with or decrease the effectiveness of Dronis-P or increase breakthrough bleeding. Patients are advised to use a backup or an alternative method of contraception when other medications are used with Drospirenone. Especially inform your healthcare provider about medications, including itraconazole, voriconazole, itraconazole, rifampin, clarithromycin, rifabutin, griseofulvin, lamotrigine, felbamate, phenytoin, aprepitant, primidone, topiramate, rufinamide, oxacarbamazepine, ethosuximide, cyclosporines, boceprevir, darunavir, felbamate, ritonavir, barbiturates, indinavir, potassium-sparing diuretics, St. John's wort, potassium supplements, heparin to treat blood clots. This is not the complete list of drug interactions with Dronis-P 4 mg.
Side effects of Drospirenone tablet
Commonly reported side effects of Dronis-P 4 mg include headache, acne, breast pain, tenderness, less sexual desire, severe vaginal bleeding, menstrual cramps, weight gain, and nausea. These are not all the possible adverse effects of Dronis-P 4 mg. If you develop any side effects not listed in this medication's guide, please speak to your doctor. Post-menopausal women should not use oral contraceptives.
How to use the Drospirenone tablet?
Take the pills in the order directed by your healthcare specialist. You are advised to take one tablet of Dronis P-4 mg daily. Take the tablet before or after consuming food. Swallow the tablet with a glass full of water. Take one tablet daily for 24 consecutive days. Do not miss your pills, even if you aren't involved in sexual activity. If you skip pills, you may get pregnant. The more of these contraceptive tablets are missed, the more likely you are to get pregnant. A woman may experience spotting or light bleeding between the periods when taking the medicine. Seek medical help if these problems don't resolve after a few months. Women taking Dronis-P 4 mg may feel sick during the initial few months of receiving Drospirenone therapy. However, they are not advised to discontinue treatment in such cases. The problem will usually disappear on its own. If the nausea doesn't resolve, speak to your doctor. Some women miss their menstrual cycle when taking hormonal contraceptives, even when they are not pregnant. If vomiting and diarrhea occur within 3 to 4 hours of taking the tablet, the new pill should be taken as soon as possible. It is suggested that the new tablet be consumed within twelve hours of the usual time if possible. If you miss more than two pills, then it is necessary to use a non-hormonal backup method.
