Linorma T3 20 mcg is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of low thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, normally produced by the thyroid gland.

Linorma T3 contains Liothyronine, a synthetic form of thyroid hormone. Low thyroid levels occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiation/medications or removed by surgery. Symptoms of low thyroid hormone levels include muscle aches, slow heartbeat, dry skin, constipation, tiredness, or sensitivity to colds. You may see improvement in these symptoms within a few days. Patients are instructed to let their doctor know if they see no relief. Having enough thyroid hormone levels help you stay healthy. In children, appropriate levels of thyroid hormones help them grow and learn normally.

Linorma T3 is used to replace a hormone that is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Generally, hormone replacement therapy is to be taken for life. It should not be used as a primary or adjunctive therapy in weight reduction programs. Also, patients need to inform their doctor about their ongoing medications, including prescription and non-prescription formulations. Patients are instructed to let their doctor know of all the medical conditions, particularly diabetes, heart disorders, adrenal gland disorders, diabetes, or pituitary gland disorders, as the dose of the medications used to control these other conditions may need to be adjusted while taking Liothyronine tablets.

Temporary hair loss may occur during the initial months of starting this thyroid medicine, especially in children. Patients are instructed to inform their doctor immediately if this effect lasts or worsens. Though unlikely, it is possible to have excessive thyroid hormone. Inform your doctor immediately if you have symptoms of too much of this hormone in the body. These symptoms include mood changes,  headache, diarrhoea, increased sweating,  menstrual changes, and sensitivity to heat.

Get medical help if you have serious symptoms of too much thyroid hormone, including unusual tiredness, trouble breathing, chest pain, swelling of ankles/feet, and fast/irregular heartbeat. A very serious allergic reaction to this thyroid medication is rare. However, get immediate medical help if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, severe dizziness, itching, swelling of the face, tongue, and throat, difficulty breathing, and severe dizziness. This is not the complete list of side effects. If you notice other side effects not listed above, call your doctor.

Patients are instructed to take Linorma T3 as directed by a doctor. The patient should notify her doctor if she becomes pregnant while taking Linorma T3. The dose of this thyroid medication is determined by the indication and must be, in every case, individualized according to patient response and clinical findings. Linorma T3 is used for oral administration. In general, once the daily dosage is recommended. The effects of Liothyronine persist for a few days following discontinuance.
