Cabimazole is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Neomercazole 5 mg Tablets. Carbimazole belongs to a group of drugs or medicines called anti-thyroid medicine.
Carbimazole is a prescription drug for adults and children with an overactive thyroid gland, known as hyperthyroidism. This medicine is used to decrease the formation of thyroid hormones in people with an overactive thyroid gland, known as hyperthyroidism. Carbimazole is an anti-thyroid drug that may be used alone or with other treatments for hyperthyroidism. It may also be used before and after radioactive iodine treatment and surgery.
Cabimazole is rapidly metabolised after absorption into its active form that is methimazole, and inhibits the action of thyroid peroxidase, it is an enzyme that involves in the coupling and iodination of thyroglobulin, which is important for the synthesis of thyroid hormone, and thus it reduces the number of thyroid hormones which your thyroid gland makes.
