Ondem MD 8 mg tablet contains the active ingredient Ondansetron, which belongs to the category of antiemetics. This medicine prevents nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It is also effective at preventing and treating nausea and vomiting after surgery. Some treatments, such as anesthesia, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, cause the release of a natural chemical messenger (serotonin) that leads to sickness and vomiting. The exact mechanism of action of Ondansetron is unknown, but it is believed to stop the activity of the natural chemical messenger to reduce the effects of nausea and vomiting.
Precautions with Ondansetron tablet
Do not use Ondem MD 8 mg if you have allergies to Ondansetron or any other ingredient in this medication. Also, this medication is contraindicated if you are taking apomorphine to treat Parkinson’s disease.

How to use Ondansetron tablet

General dosage:

Adults can take this antiemetic drug before and after chemotherapy. The dose usually ranges between 8 and 24 mg. The medicine is taken orally for up to 5 days or as directed by the doctor.
For children (4-12 years), 4 mg of the medication is given orally after chemotherapy for up to 5 days. Nausea and vomiting can also occur due to radiotherapy, and Ondansetron is very effective.
For adults, 8 mg of the medicine is given 1 or 2 hours before radiotherapy. After therapy, 8 mg of the medicine is taken orally for up to 5 days.
