Rofaday 500 mcg is a prescription medicine used in adults with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to decrease the number of episodes or worsening symptoms. It helps you get rid of symptoms of COPD by reducing airway narrowing and is used to try and reduce worsening or flareup frequency.
Rofaday 500 Composition: Each tablet contains 500 micrograms of Roflumilast.
Benefits of Roflumilast: In COPD, Roflumilast helps the airways in your lungs stay open. It causes the relaxation of muscles in the airways, which makes it easier for air to get in and out. It relieves symptoms such as breathlessness, coughing and wheezing, and chest tightness, thus helping you carry out your daily activities more easily. The medicine is safe and effective. It usually begins to work within a few minutes, and the effects can last several hours. Do not discontinue treatment unless advised by your health care provider. It is not a bronchodilator and should not be used for treating sudden breathing issues. It is not known if the medicine is safe and effective in children. Rofaday related warnings
Do not take tab Rofaday 500 mcg if you have certain liver problems. Roflumilast is not indicated as a rescue medicinal product for the relief of acute bronchospasm.
Before you take Rofaday, let your doctor know if any of the following applies to you are/have:
– Liver problems
– Any other medical disorder
– Pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if this medicine will harm your unborn
– Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
– Breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is still not known if the medicine passes into breast milk. You and your healthcare specialist will decide if you need to take this medicine or breastfeed. You are not supposed to do both things together.
Rofaday is associated with an increased risk of psychiatric disorders such as insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, and depression. Rare cases of suicidal behavior have been reported in individuals with or without a history of depression, usually within the first weeks of treatment with Rofaday. It should be closely monitored if patients are reported to have previous or existing psychiatric symptoms or if concomitant therapy with other medications likely to cause psychiatric issues is intended.
A significant reduction in body weight occurred more frequently in patients treated with Rofaday; most patients have been reported to regain body weight after three months. The body weight of underweight patients should also be assessed at each visit. Patients are advised to check their body weight regularly. In case of an unexplained and clinical concern about weight decrease, the intake of Roflumilast medication should be stopped, and body weight should be further followed up.
Rofaday 500 mcg may affect how other medicines work and other medicines may affect how Rofaday works. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Rodaday side effects
The most common side effects of Rofaday 500 mcg tab include headache, diarrhea, problems sleeping, back pain, nausea, decreased appetite, and Flu-like symptoms. Rofaday 500 mcg may cause mental health problems, including suicidal thoughts and behavior. Some people taking Rofaday 500 tab may develop mood or behavior problems, including:
— New or worse anxiety
— Thoughts of suicide or dying
— Trouble sleeping
— Attempt to commit suicide
— New or worse depression
— Other unusual changes in your behavior or mood
— Acting or dangerous impulses
Rofaday 500 tablets can cause weight loss. Your healthcare provider may ask you to stop taking tab Rofaday 500 if you lose too much weight.
Roflumilast dosage: how to take?
Initially, you may be advised to take 250 mcg once daily for 28 days, then a maintenance dose of 500 mcg once a day. The tablet can be taken before or after consuming food, but take it at the same time every day to get the most benefit. Your healthcare provider will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You may need to take Rofaday tablet for several weeks before you notice any beneficial effects. After you have commenced Roflumilast treatment, you should check your body weight regularly. You should inform your healthcare provider if you have experienced unintentional body weight loss. If Rofaday is tolerated and beneficial, you can continue taking this long-term to prevent frequent worsening or flare-ups. In patients with hepatic impairment, administration benefits must be weighed against the risks. In the case of moderate to severe problems, the use of medication is contraindicated.
