Valcoveer 1000 mg contains the active ingredient Valacyclovir, an antiviral medicine used to treat viral infections. It plays a vital role in treating cold sores (herpes labialis). It treats initial episodes of genital herpes in immunocompetent (having normal immune response) adults. It can also be used to treat recurrent episodes of genital herpes. Valcoveer tablets can also be given for chronic suppressive therapy of recurrent episodes of genital herpes in immunocompetent and HIV-infected individuals. The drug's effectiveness for suppressing genital herpes beyond a year in immunocompetent patients and beyond six months in HIV-infected individuals has not been established. The medicine is extremely effective at reducing of transmission of genital herpes in adults. However, safer sex practices should be used with suppressive therapy.

Valcoveer is a generic version of Valtrex. This Valtrex generic does not cure the problem but helps reduce symptoms such as pain or itching and decreases the severity of the medication. Precautions
